 Friends of Stone Academy Minimize

Please donate this year.  We can’t afford not to raise the money!!
It has been a rough year for public schools.  With statewide budget cuts totaling $600,000,000, already-stretched schools are struggling to find ways to make ends meet and keep staff and programming reductions to a minimum.  However, no matter whatever budget balancing our school does, we are going to see some cuts in programming and staffing next year.
You and I can help minimize the damage caused by these cuts.  The more money we raise between now and the end of the school year, the more our staff and faculty will have to work with as they make critical decisions about what to cut.
Please, if you haven’t given yet, give as generously as you can.  If you already have given, consider making an additional gift at this time.  None of us want to see our children being shortchanged in their education, and this is one of the most significant things we can do to help right now.
Send your check, payable to FOSA, back to school in your child’s folder or drop it by the office.  Support the annual fund or the jog-a-thon—either way, it benefits the school and helps with programming.  Join my husband Doug and me as we try to make a difference for all of Stone’s students next year by making an additional gift.

Please Make Sure You Give This Year!  There is still a pizza party for the class with the best participation and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping your child(ren) get a great education.

The Friends of Stone Academy is Stone’s fundraising organization and is made up of parents and representatives from Stone’s faculty, administration, LSC, and PTA.
Our primary activity is raising funds to support the school. We meet regularly to discuss and implement fund-raising initiatives that help cover the costs of a variety of educational programs. These initiatives are tailored to the needs and requirements of the students and faculty, the administration, the LSC and the PTA.
Our goal is to assist the administration in creating opportunities for our students and to provide resources students can use to prepare themselves for high school, college, and beyond. We also intend to provide funding for physical plant improvements and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
This year, The Friends of Stone Academy is focusing our efforts on establishing our non-profit status, strengthening our annual-fund effort, which was so successful last year, and exploring grants to fund activities that Stone would be otherwise unable to offer. With the help of a group of parents with grant-writing experience, we will establish three or four funding priorities to submit to foundations.
We believe that our school will succeed best if it is a community center, bringing together families from diverse cultures in support of the same goal—providing the best education possible to our children.
The Friends of Stone Academy relies completely on parent involvement. We welcome help and input from everyone and invite you to be part of our efforts. We welcome new participants and ideas, so please join us to learn what we are up to, and to share your thoughts.

 Ways to Help Stone Minimize

If You Shop at

Dominicks

At the beginning of the school year, don’t forget to check your receipts to see if you earned any rewards during their back to school program. All you have to do is log on to www. Backtoschools.escrip.com and follow the prompts. Make sure to have your grocery card number available. They’ll send a check to the school. Thanks!

Jewel

Stone will be participating in the Shop and Share Program. If you take a Jewel coupon (which will appear in the newsletter in October, November and December) with you to Jewel on the dates listed, fill it out and turn it in when you check out, the school gets a percentage of your purchase. There will be extra copies of the coupons in the school office—share them with your friends and family!

Target

If you shop at Target and use a Target Credit Card, the next time you are there you can designate Stone to receive 1 percent of your purchases (3 percent during back to School). All you need to do is tell the cashier that you want to designate a school. You can also set it up if you manage your account online. As a bonus for you, your spending totals can earn you 10% off coupons at Target.

Box Tops for Education

Save your Boxtops for Education from participating General Mills products and drop them off at the School in the container in the front hall. We can redeem them for money from General Mills.

Shopping for a Good Cause

GoodSearch.com and OneCause.com are Yahoo-powered search engines that donate half of their advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities their users designate. Use either one of them just as you would any search engine (no registration or personal information is required), get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!

GoodShop.com  and OneCause.com are online shopping malls that donate up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and OneCause and every time you place an order, you'll be supporting Stone Academy.

Just go to www.goodsearch.com or www.onecause.com and be sure to enter “Stone Elementary Scholastic Academy” as the charity you want to support. You'll be able to see the donations add up!

www.escrip.com

Just create an account at escrip and register your credit card and grocery card numbers. Stone will then get a small percentage of qualifying purchases.

Office Depot

When you shop at Office Depot, use our school's ID number: 70031636 and they will donate 5% of your purchase back to the school.
